As of March 2017, the HSE now stipulates that only those holding a certificate in this course can be counted towards the required number of supervising adults in a child care setting. This means that basic first aid, basic paediatric first aid, emergency first aid and first aid at work certificate holders no longer contribute towards this and these first aiders must update their certification in order to work with children.
